Day 1: Karatu
It’s time to begin your safari. Welcome to Tanzania! After we greet you and provide you with the trip briefing, we’ll take you out to help you discover why so many people think Tanzania is the best place in Africa to go on safari.
Enjoy quiet, little Karatu. Its busy main street is a window on urban life in a small provincial town, but it’s much quieter just a few blocks away from the main road. Shop, go to the bank or simply walk the streets – all are possible here.
Tarangire National Park
Elephants and baobabs will probably be your highlights when you visit Tarangire, but sightings of lions are also possible, as are wildebeest, giraffes, hippos, buffaloes, baboons, vervet monkeys and zebras
Accommodation | Day 1
Country Lodge Karatu Lodge
You’ll feel like you’ve retreated from the world and its noise at Country Lodge Karatu. Relax amid the greenery of the expansive grounds and enjoy the rooms that are large and have mosquito nets, fireplaces and stone-walled showers. Friendly staff and a good restaurant that uses locally sourced ingredients are also part of the package.

Day 2: Serengeti National Park
Morning drive in the crater and later in the afternoon to the Serengeti
You won’t find many better national parks in Africa than the Serengeti, which has few rivals when it comes to both the numbers and variety of animals. Track down the annual migration of wildebeest and zebra. Enjoy the vast horizons that are perfect for spotting predators (especially lions, leopards, cheetahs and spotted hyenas) and their prey (buffaloes, impalas and kongoni), as well as elephants and giraffes. If you’re really lucky you’ll see a hunt, one of the most exhilarating sights anywhere in the wild. And at every turn, revel in its beauty, with flat-topped acacia trees silhouetted against the setting sun, and so many other classic African safari images.
Ngorongoro Crater has everything you could wish for in a safari – plentiful wildlife, rare natural beauty, and the chance to enjoy it all in just one day.
Accommodation | Day 2
Tented bush camp | Inside Serengeti National Park
Watch wildlife from your very own safari tent at Thorn Tree Camp in the central Serengeti. You’ll see many more animals than people, and no-one ever forgets lying in their tent at night listening to lions roar and the other night calls of the Serengeti. There’s an onsite dining tent and more stars than you could ever imagine after dark.

Day 3: Karatu
This day we are going to leave thorny tree camp very early in the morning with our pack lunch because we have to maximize our chances to see as much as we can before we leave the magical Serengeti after lunch.
After lunch we will have to drive back to Karatu for overnight which is closer to Arusha for the following day transfer to Kilimanjaro than driving straight from Serengeti to Arusha which is going to minimize our time to stay in the Serengeti on this day.
Central Serengeti National Park
Experience classic safari scenery with acacia trees and savannah grasslands, as well as plenty of wildlife, when you visit the Central Serengeti.
Accommodation | Day 3
Pass another night at Country Lodge Karatu, enjoying its
grounds and rooms. Country Lodge Karatu
